Splitting a restaurant bill and adding a fair tip shouldn't need a spreadsheet. Enter the bill amount, pick a tip percentage, and say how many people are sharing — this calculator instantly shows the tip, the grand total, and what each person owes.
Tipping customs vary by country, so use the percentage that fits where you are: around 15–20% is common in the US, while in much of Europe and Asia a smaller amount or none at all is normal.
How much should you tip?
In the United States, 15–20% of the pre-tax bill is standard for table service, with 20%+ for great service. In the UK and much of Europe, service is sometimes included; if not, rounding up or ~10% is common. In Japan and some other countries, tipping isn't customary at all.
For large groups, restaurants often add a service charge automatically — check the bill before adding a tip on top so you don't pay twice.
